Phone Security - Simple As Wearing Your Seatblelt

Last week I attended CTIA and joined a colleague to tour the show much like I have done many times over the years. The usual armamentarium for these events includes a laptop, iPad, several USB modems or hotspots, and various smart-phones making for quizzical looks not at the event itself but when going through the TSA security. This year was no different for either my colleague or I and various phones from AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile accompanied us in our pockets or bags. Perhaps its hubris or just complacency but I don’t recall ever losing a device while on the road. Granted I lose my phone at home on a regular basis but that’s an entirely different issue. It was a rude shock to find out shortly after we had left the Ford keynote and arrived in Hall C to discover my colleague had lost his T-Mobile G4 (a greatly under appreciated device but that’s for another post). Coats came off, bags were emptied, and pockets searched to no avail; a phone had been lost.
